Schreck:
The
website, http://www.strategicthoughts.com/, has been brought to
the
attention of Elections BC.
While
we are not currently in a campaign period, this letter is to advise
you that if the website is maintained during a campaign period,
it will be
deemed to be election advertising within the meaning of the Election
Act.
You therefore will be required by that Act to register with this
office as a
sponsor of election advertising.
Also,
any advertisements placed by registered election advertising sponsors
are required to include sponsor identification as specified by
section 231
of the Act.
That
section requires all election advertising to:
(i)
identify the sponsor;
(ii) indicate that the sponsor is registered under the Act;
(iii) indicate that the advertising is authorized by the sponsor;
and
(iv) give a British Columbia telephone number or mailing address
at which
the sponsor may be contacted.
The
necessary documents for you to register as an election advertising
sponsor are available for downloading from our website at:
http://www.elections.bc.ca/general/eas-kit.html.
In
addition, election advertising sponsors must file an Advertising
Sponsor
Disclosure Report with Elections BC within 90 days after General
Voting Day.
A set of reporting forms will be mailed to you if you register
as an
advertising sponsor. The forms are also available on our website
at the
above address.
If
you have any questions, please contact Elections BC.
Yours
sincerely,
M.
